There is no shortage of web design and development companies in the US, and New York is no exception. With so many top rated New York web design companies, you may be lost for options when choosing a company to work with. You have to know how to identify a good service provider in order to have a smooth business process of designing your site. Here are some tell-tale signs it could be a fake company:-

Be wary of a company that puts so much emphasis on the aesthetic appeal of a site. It is the functionality of a website that is more important than its visual appeal. If you have a website with a complicated navigation, perhaps because it has so many flashy images, or if you have a site whose web copy isn't optimized for the search engines, or a site that does not meet the needs of its primary target audience, then that website is as good as nothing.

You should also not work with a company that knows nothing about SEO. It is not uncommon to find service providers who concentrate on visual appeal of a site but do nothing on the web copy. Keep in mind that spiders and search engine robots only 'read' content optimized to the specific keywords within the website. This ensures the pages can get ranked high in the search engines as per the optimized keywords.

By the same token, you should get a company that integrates some key flash elements in the HTML pages of a site. This way, a site will appear well optimized and polished for the search engines without affecting usability, functionality, and interactivity.

Never work with a company that takes forever to respond to questions and inquiries. When you send an email and get a reply after 5 days, you might consider looking for another company. This could just be a tip of the iceberg of what to expect when you have already paid for their services and you have a burning question that need to be addressed urgently.

The service provider's website should be a reflection of the kind of service to expect. If the website has a poor navigation, broken links, poorly written content, and takes forever to load, chances are quite high that is what you will get. Always visit a company's website to see the quality of their service before hiring them.

Always read client testimonials before committing your hard-earned cash on any service provider. These testimonials and reviews are readily available on the company's official website. Look at the portfolio section of their website to see some of their success stories and to know what to expect of the service provider.

If the website doesn't have that section, this could be an indication that the testimonials were not worth publishing. If you cannot find information on the site, request the service provider for referrals and contacts of some of their past clients. If they claim not to have any contacts, or give you doctored testimonials/reviews, you might as well start looking elsewhere because this is not the New York web design company to work with.
