A lot of people have an idea of what search engine optimization is but aren't sure what to do and how to be successful with search engine optimization. The thing about search engine optimization is that the more you know, the better chance you have at being successful with search engine optimization. Take note from this article and see what you can learn that can help you with your search engine optimization goals.

Keep your keywords in mind, but create your page for the users. Search engines crawl for keywords but they are not the ones choosing to click on your link. A page title or meta description that is full of keywords without content will keep people from clicking on your link.

Avoid using AJAX for your most critical content. Search engines only "see" what is in the site's code. If an AJAX call retrieves something from the server, then it will be completely invisible to search engines. If you must use AJAX, one alternative is to create a no-frills, AJAX-free version of the site that search engines can index.

To improve the chances of users finding your site through keywords, perfect your keyword density. If you use a keyword too frequently, search engines will ignore it, and not using it enough makes it harder for search engine to recognize. A keyword density of about three to five percent is optimal for search engines, and will give you much better results.

Set up your site so that your oldest articles will still provide access to your most recent content. You may make a blog post that goes viral so that 2 years down the road you are still getting hits on that page. If you make sure that that old post gives easy access to your main page and recent links you'll be more successful in your results.

Make your descriptive tag engaging. Google and other search platforms will use it to create that little blurb about your site. Users often read these before deciding whether or not to visit a site. Concise, descriptive blurbs draw visitors to your site, sometimes even before sites that rank higher than yours in a search.

Do not spread yourself too thin. Use a limited amount of keywords throughout your entire website. Some search engines recommend no more than twenty. If you do more than this, you may end up not getting the searches you want, because the search engine recognizes you are overdoing it. Keep it simple!

Always do keyword research. Selecting the right keywords is the most fundamental part of SEO and by doing initial keyword research, you can save a lot of time and money. If you don't do any keyword research, you could end up wasting months optimizing for keywords that nobody searches for or keywords that have really tough competition.

Having a successful website is all about getting traffic to your site. This article has shown you practical ways that you can optimize your website for the search engines, so that you will come up higher in the results, thus giving you a better chance for lots of views and hits.
