Desktop and laptop search for Gmail, contacts, calendars and more, even in the cloud, is not something brand new. But when it comes time for you to search via cell phone, Gmail search is lacking in pace and capability. With CloudMagic, however, cloud search across several platforms via mobile is simple.
Everybody wants CloudMagic
CloudMagic moved to cloud computing last fall when it started to include Twitter updates. You are able to access Twitter, Google Docs, calendars, contacts Gmail and more from the OAuth technology in the cloud. This is why the CloudMagic has started to become popular in the mobile market, even though it has been out for a while for larger devices.
According to TechCrunch, CloudMagic is really "surprisingly fast." The service is much improved than the built-in search feature found on smartphones, which is a lot like the Google Search mobile application, as reported by N.R. Chirag. Chirag is a CloudMagic and Bangalore Institute of Technology representative. The program could be found on both Android and iPhone smartphones.
"It is not only faster than native searches, it integrates your personal data across different online services. It is like one search box and you can search across all your personal data," he said. "Indexing Google and Twitter services is a start. There are many more to come. With the increasing online services, we believe one needs a fast integrated search."
TechCrunch suggests that to be able to compete with systems like Greplin, CloudMagic will have to incorporate even more services into its cloud-based index search. Dropbox, Tumblr, LinkedIn and much more are on Greplin, so CloudMagic may soon follow.
The change to a mobile application
CloudMagic made its startup debut as a Chrome and Firefox browser plug-in during the summer of 2010. At the time, it indexed Gmail and Google Apps user data. That plug-in still exists but is not necessary for users to use the new smartphone application. However, the browser app now has access to CloudMagic search within Gmail and Twitter.
Looking your email for things
In the past, the From, To, Matter and All sections were the only ones you can search with an iPhone with your email. Now, you can search for whatever you need with specific named. You can find everything with a PDF attached to it by going to "filename: pdf." CloudMagic makes email search much better.
